I KNOW HE DIDN’T: Timbaland Says Justin Timberlake Needs to “Put a Muzzle” on “Crazy” Britney Spears Following Release of Her Memoir

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Britney definitely rocked Justin’s body telling her story unfiltered and unapologetically… while most have been tearing into Justin as a result, Timbaland says he’s “gon’ stick beside him.”

Apparently, Timbaland has nothing but support for Justin Timberlake amid the release of Britney Spears’ memoir ‘The Woman in Me.’ A clip from Timbaland’s Sound Architects conversation at the Kennedy Center with 9th Wonder has surfaced on social media and is causing quite the stir. The producer was questioned about Timberlake being a topic in Spears’ memoir, to which he immediately defended his frequent collaborator.

“She going crazy, right?” Timbaland asked the audience, he then added that he wanted to call Timberlake upon hearing about the book, saying that the “Cry Me a River” vocalist should “put a muzzle” on Spears.

Shortly after, Britney fans began to demand he apologize for his remarks. For those unfamiliar, several allegations about Timberlake have been brought to light from The Woman in Me, with Spears claiming that she had an abortion at Timberlake’s request, reminiscing the singer having an awkward AAVE encounter with Ginuwine as an example of when he’d try to appeal to the hip hop crowd speaking with an accent, and how he also villainized her as a promotional tactic for his debut album, claiming Spears was the one who broke the trust in their relationship when in reality he had done so long before.

The Sound Architects event wouldn’t be the first time that Timbaland spoke on Spears. Per MTV News, in 2007, he brushed off the possibility of Timberlake and Spears collaborating although it would be “the best thing that ever happened” and would “help her out a whole lot.”

Timbaland also suggested that Spears give Timberlake an apology, although he didn’t disclose what it was for. “She should humbly humble herself,” Timbaland said. “And make a phone call and say I’m sorry. That’s it. She knows what she’s sorry about, too.”

For me (and apparently many of Spears fans online) I just think it’s a little tasteless for him to be speaking up. I understand Justin is his friend, but if Timberlake is choosing to remain quiet, why are you the one making jokes about it? Also, there’s a way to be respectful in commentary and maintaining your stance for your friend without suggesting a muzzle be placed on this woman… who has essentially been locked in a cage the last 13 years of her life.

Take a look at the video along with some of the backlash that followed and let us know your thoughts. Is Timbo out of line?
