One of the most unfortunate things about this case with Hough vs the Petty’s is that you have Minaj’s strangely dedicated fan base forcing themselves into the center of things and taking any small tidbit that they can in effort to turn it into a “win” and deem their ‘Queen’ innocent of such insanity. This is turn causes confusion with the public who is actually trying to keep up with the case, but don’t worry, because the facts will always be where itsKenBarbie.com steps in.
Just last week, the usual suspects attempted to spread news that Nicki Minaj scored a “win” in terms of her civil case where she and her husband Kenneth Petty are being sued for allegedly harassing and intimidating his convicted sexual assault victim, Jennifer Hough.
The supposed win came when a federal court clerk decided the “Chun-Li” rapper didn’t fail to respond to the lawsuit and agreed that her silence (while responding to virtually everything else) could have been an “honest mistake” rather than negligence, which in turn would make it so that Hough’s request for a default judgement of $20 million would then be denied.
However, as of today (October 26th) Judge Eric N. Vitaliano has entered the chat and said “not so fast.” According to updated court documents, the judge has ordered against the clerk’s decision and has reversed the decision to throw out Hough’s request for a default judgement, for now. While this is by no means a “win” for either party (as honestly I believe they’re about to be in for a long road of a case) it is a positive in Hough’s favor as this means Mrs Petty will now have to truly prove to the court that her lack of response wasn’t pure negligance to avoid getting hit with that default judgement.
Personally, I don’t think the default judgement will happen honestly because that’s a lot of money that I don’t necessarily see the court awarding without hearing the case. However, I don’t think The Petty’s will be able to worm themselves out of this and all the dirt will be revealed in court unless they decide to settle.
