ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?: This P*ssy Bites Back! Latto Takes a Stand for the Ladies On Her New Track – “P*ssy” (VIDEO)

Latto is fighting back with p*ssy power against double standards, gender roles, monogamy, and men who defend abusers.

After dominating radio for month’s with more pop oriented “Big Energy” it was definitely time for Latto to switch up the play and come with something different. This is where she decided to use her platform for a socially-driven purpose on her latest effort, ‘P**sy.’. When she announced that her new track “P**sy” would arrive this week, not everyone was on board with Latto’s teaser. Latto used footage from Roe v. Wade protests in her preview, and some accused her of using the abortion debate for profit. Without hesitation, Latto clapped back at her detractors, stating that she planned on donating proceeds from the single while adding, “Y’all complain about female rap lacking substance but then say I’m ‘capitalizing’ when I speak on sh*t, help me understand???”

With a portion of proceeds from the track going directly to Planned Parenthood, continued to silence her critics in a few more tweets. “Lmao y’all hear ‘p**sy’ and get ur panties in a bunch. This song is about empowering women & roe v wade but proceed,” she said in response.

On the track, Latto spits bars about women’s bodies not being owned by men and seems to fire a few shots at her haters. “How you ain’t got a p**sy but got opinions on p**sy? That’s p**sy. My ovaries ain’t for you to bully. Y’all the reason we make music teaching b*tches how to use it.” she raps. Latto also speaks on gender roles, monogamy, and men who defend abusers.

In the video for the track, Latto takes a simpler approach and decides to be completely surrounded by “p**sy” in the form of actual cats. While, I can’t say this is my favorite Latto release, I do think it’s important for artists to be able to speak on social issues, especially those that they believe in in their work. Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think. ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?
