WELL AT LEAST SHE KNOWS: Saweetie Reveals She’s Attending Artist Bootcamp To Improve Her…”Skills”

LOS ANGELES, CA – DECEMBER 31st: In this image released on December 31, Saweetie performs at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2021 broadcast on December 31, 2020 and January 1, 2021. (Photo by Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images for dick clark productions)

After being dragged for a performance that looked like it was straight out of a middle school talent show, Saweetie says she’s currently at an artist development camp to work on areas of her artistry “where she struggles with.”

Saweetie has been pretty vocal in the past about criticism early on in her career affecting how she approached her artistry afterward. In an interview last month, she confessed that she had PTSD after radio show host Ebro rightfully called her freestyling garbage. The Bay Area rapper cited the moment as triggering her into a spiral of self-doubt, in turn bringing on the post-traumatic stress.

She noted the sudden success of “Icy Girl” caused her label to plunge her into doing press to satisfy her growing popularity. While she has come a long way since then…there’s definitely still some work to do and people are noticing. Last Saturday Saweetie took part in Triller’s Fight Club event and the immediate aftermath saw the internet absolutely dragging her for her performance…or lack there of. Saweetie and/or her team may have heard all the talk as in a new interview with Apple Music, she revealed that she’s currently at an artist development Bootcamp on a work vacation working on areas of her craft “where she struggles with.”

In the interview she reveals she’s a camp to hone in her craft. “Well for me, I’m gonna focus on what I struggle with — I struggle with breathing control, I’m gonna work on my dance moves, my details, all that good stuff, my body, my stamina, everything,” she explained.

I definitely remember a time where artists went into development BEFORE they were introduced to the world, but hey, different times I guess. Peep the clip below and let us know what you think. Do you see major potential in Saweetie?
