SAD NEWS: The Legendary Tina Turner Has Passed Away at 83 Years Old Following Battle with Intestinal Cancer

It’s definitely a sad day for music as we just lost another icon, the one and only Tina Turner.

Tina Turner, the pioneering rock’n’roll star who became an icon known as the ‘Queen of Rock’N’Roll’ in the 1980’s, has died aged age of 83 after a long illness. She had suffered ill health in recent years, being diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017. However, she unfortunately passed away today at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

A statement from her U.K. spokesperson confirms she died “peacefully” at home and adds: “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.” They also confirm that a private funeral ceremony will be held for close friends and family.

Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, in Nutbush, Tennessee, Turner became famous in the late 1960s as the singer of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. After leaving husband Ike Turner following years of physical and emotional abuse, she staged what remains one of the greatest comebacks in pop music history, scoring massive hits in the 1980’s such as “What’s Love Got To Do With it”, “Private Dancer” and “The Best”, with more than 180 million albums sold, 12 Grammy Awards won and sold-out stadium tours around the world.

Her life story was told in the 1993 smash hit film What’s Love Got To Do With It, and in the 2021 Broadway musical Tina – The Tina Turner Musical.

Her spokesman has said that further press enquiries will not be answered at this time. Our well wishes go out to Ms. Turner’s loved ones at this time. We have truly lost an icon.
