PLAY STUPID GAMES, WIN STUPID PRIZES: Prosecutors Are Reportedly Seeking Harsher Sentence for Tory Lanez

It was all fun and games as the pint-sized rapper taunted his victim and let the internet hype him into thinking he was invincible for over years… now it sounds like he’s about to get a real reality check.

Prosecutors are reportedly seeking a harsher sentence for Tory Lanez regarding the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. As caught by Rolling Stone, they explained in a filing to the court on Tuesday that there are three aggravating factors that would allow for the judge to give the little man a severe sentence that could see his life as far pushed back as his former hairline.

“As victim began to walk away from Defendant wearing only a bikini and no shoes, Defendant mocked Victim with ‘Dance B—h’ as he opened fire in her direction. With no justifiable reason, Defendant fired not just one but up to five rounds in the direction of Victim in the middle of a residential neighborhood,” prosecutors wrote in the filing.

The filing continues: “The brazenness of Defendant’s conduct is alarming but the conscious disregard for the well-being and safety of all those around him signifies a high degree of indifference for human life.” It comes after the implementation of a new California law that would automatically put Lanez’s sentence in “the middle term.” This is unless it’s proven there were “circumstances in aggravation.”

Lanez was originally convicted on three counts for the incident back in 2022. They include first-degree assault with a firearm, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle – unregistered. He faces a maximum of 22 years and eight months in prison. With the new filing, Prosecutors did not recommend a specific number of years for the prison sentence. That determination will arrive a week before his sentencing on June 13.

The latest update on Lanez’s sentencing comes after Judge David Herriford shot down his motion for a new trial. His team argued the judge “erroneously allowed” for jurors to view an Instagram comment from Lanez’s personal account. The post refuted claims that Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris was the shooter. It’s expected that after the sentencing Lanez and his attorneys will likely seek an appeal but we’ll cross the bridge on that news when it gets here. What’s your take on this? Does Tory deserve a severe punishment?
