ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?: Megan Thee Stallion Savagely Gives Her Spin on an Eazy-E Classic with “Girls In The Hood” (LISTEN)

Megan Thee Stallion taps an Eazy-E classic to deliver her latest single “Girls in the Hood.”

Although Eazy-E’s daughter is not happy about it at all, Megan Thee Stallion moves forward with her latest release. The Texas rapper unknowingly caused controversy on Thursday (June 25) after she shared a snippet of her single “Girls in the Hood.” Mega posted a video of herself twerking to the beat of her latest track—a song that samples Eazy-E’s 1987 debut single “Boyz-n-the-Hood.” The track is a classic hip hop hit, and the late rapper’s daughters ReeMarkable, Ebie, and Erica have been airing out family business on social media.

While the ladies speak about whether or not artists should sample their father’s music and argue about their personal concerns, Megan Thee Stallion continued to keep quiet as she anticipated her song’s release. The track clearly pays homage to Eazy-E, and Meg spits bossy lyrics that her fans have grown to love. While it’s not the most unique sample at this point and the song really isn’t much different than all of Megan’s previous releases, it’s sure to create some fun twerk videos for the Gram but doesn’t really go anywhere after the first verse/chorus. Coming off of a hit like “Savage” with the Queen Beyonce herself, it’ll be interesting to see what this one does for Thee Stallion.

Quotable Lyrics:
B*tch you better hope I never run across your man
In the mall wit’ him
Imma have a ball wit’ him
Somebody call Rihanna Imma buy some draws wit’ him
He f*ckin’ wit’ the Stallion ’cause he into wild women
