Lady Gaga returns with her first solo single in three years: “Stupid Love.” Her Apple-directed music video made an arrival, as well.
Lady Gaga is back in shimming bright pink, ready to dance battle with punks for dominance over Chromatica. That sounds like the plot description to some future anime movie, but really it’s the premise of Gaga’s latest music video, which brings her new single “Stupid Love” to life. Frankly, it’s doing more for the innovation of popcorn cinema than most of the sequels out there today. Who needs another Hunger Games spinoff when you can have the saga of Chromatica?
The premise of the visual is about conflict arising in a futurist, or possibly even otherworldly society and the only way for the anger to end is for the “Kindness” crew to help spread love. The singer is flanked by a bevy of dancers as she belts out “Stupid Love” in a vibrant and colorful scene. This is, of course, a perfect product placement ploy for Apple and the company has heavily pushed that the music video was completely shot on their iPhone 11 Pro.
The rest of the video involves Lady Gaga dressed in various hot pink outfits, dancing it out with groups of people in other colors — each with its own little logo. At first it feels more dance battle style, but by the end they all come together in one big celebration. Lady Gaga is never one to hold back on her music video production. Many fans are speculating that “Chromatica” will be the name of Lady Gaga’s newest studio album and that each track will be centered around a different color. This could mean more music videos set in this world, and more exploration of what the heck is going on here. Are you here for getting on more of the adventure with Gaga?
Quotable Lyrics:
You’re the one that I’ve been waiting for
Gotta quit this crying, nobody’s gonna
Heal me if I don’t open the door
Kinda hard to believe (Gotta have faith in me)
