HERE FOR IT OR KEEP IT?: With Ellen DeGeneres On Her Way Out; Producers Are Looking to Bring a Jennifer Hudson Daytime Talk Show to a Television Near You

In the words of another Jennifer, let’s get loud! That’s the first thing I thought when I heard J. Hud could be coming to daytime television, that’s surely a voice that’ll wake you up in the morning.

Apparently there are some serious shake-ups coming to daytime TV. With Ellen DeGeneres on her way out as her final season of her hit talk show is currently running, Effie White could be coming in but the question is… are you gonna love her? According to the folks over at Deadline, a Jennifer Hudson talk showproject is currently being pitched to major television station groups eyeing a potential fall 2022 launch and it actually is being prepared to be the successor of Warner Bros longtime hit The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Recently, the executive producers of ‘Ellen’ Andy Lassner and Mary Connelly taped a test show with Hudson as a host on the very same stage, which is now being pitched to several station groups. However, it does need to be said that producers want to make it clear that Hudson’s show will not be a “replacement” for Ellen, so to speak and they want to make sure Hudson’s daytime talk show will be a totally “new” series and given it’s own proper chance to shine.

Despite the much talked about difficult times in the talk show marketplace, with Nick Cannon’s show reportedly underperforming and talk show queen Wendy William’s show in question after her absence, there are reportedly big hopes for Hudson’s show. Major NBC stations have previously announced that“Kelly Clarkson will occupy the “Ellen” slot the next fall so this leaves her current spot and will provide an opportunity for Hudson’s show. However, it happens only if these stations choose to go for another unscripted talk series.

Honestly, if Kelly Clarkson, Drew Berrymore, etc can have a talk show…Why can’t Jennifer? She does have a history in unscripted television (American Idol, U.S., and U.K. versions of The Voice) and she does have a great personality and major connections that would make her guest seats easy to fill. Besides, I’m always here for more black representation especially in a predominately while circuit. Would you be here for Jennifer’s talk show getting the green light?
