As with anything she does, There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Beyonce’s last minute announced appearance on tonight’s Country Music Awards. And a lot of other feelings, as well.
For the last year, the pop star has been accused of taking an anti-police stance, following the release of her song “Formation” and its accompanying music video. She addressed the issue during an interview with Elle Magazine this past April. Stating:
“I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe,” she said. “But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things.”
Half a year later, apparently many viewers haven’t changed their minds about Beyoncé, and refuse to join the beloved “Beyhive.”
In every Facebook post made by the CMA following today’s announcement about the singer, the top-voted comments are fans expressing their disappointment.
“Apparently the disgusting progressives at the CMA are considering allowing the police hating, racist Beyoncé perform her brand of filth in an effort to destroy the image of country music,” wrote user Deborah Holland.
Sylvia Spohn Murphy writes, “Shame on you for having the cop hater Beyonce on the show tonight. You should know better than that. What are most country music fans about? Loving this country, law enforcement etc. Won’t be watching and I bet your ratings will be low because of her being there.”
