Another year, another series of massive paychecks for the faces of hip-hop’s celebrity elite. According to a new report from Forbes, Diddy and Drake are among the highest-paid musicians of 2017.
Earlier this week, the publication reported that Diddy, who founded Bad Boy Entertainment and has been a portrait of music industry moguldum for over 20 years now, raked in a colossal $130 million before taxes in 2017. Saying Diddy “secured the bag” doesn’t even begin to do justice to the bag-getting Diddy took part in over the last 12 months. He has his Bad Boy Family Reunion tour, his Ciroc deal and the $70 million sale of one-third of his Sean John clothing line to thank. No one earned more money than Diddy, who landed at No. 1 on Forbes’ annual list.
For his part, Drizzy checked in at No. 3 behind Beyoncé, earning $94 million in 2017. If you’ve been following Drizzy’s exploits as of late, you aren’t too surprised. A large portion of his bag-securing was assisted by his epic Boy Meets World tour, of course. Also, More Life obviously did some serious numbers. Drizzy’s fellow Toronto superstar The Weeknd pulled in $92 million, with most of that dough coming in from his Live Nation advance. That was good enough for fourth on Forbes’ list. Hov earned $42 million, but he didn’t tour as much as other artists.
