SAY WHAT NOW?: Tory Lanez Says Nicki Minaj Told Him to Remove Her From His Album After He Questioned Her Lyrics: “I F*cked it Up with Her”

Tory Lanez has plenty of stars on his new album Memories Don’t Die, but there was one collaboration that didn’t make the final cut. According to Swavey, Nicki Minaj was left off the project after some miscommunication via text.

Speaking with the folks over at HotNewHipHop, the Toronto rapper opened up about why Nicki was taken off “Shooters” at her request.

“She was on ‘Shooters’ originally,” he revealed. “She was on the record first, and I was telling her something about the verse, I wasn’t saying it was bad or anything, her verse was incredible, and I’m also like a super-Nicki fan. But I was telling her something…I was texting her, and it may have came off in a different way, she probably read it in a different way than I said it.”

I think it maybe kinda came off a little bit arrogant, or I kinda said something I shouldn’t have said about her verse,” he added. “She was like, ‘Well, ni**a, it’s not that serious. Take my verse off the thing.’”

Tory obliged, but he says he is open to another collaboration at a later date. “I love Nicki Minaj when it comes down to her music and the whole thing, but I’m not a reacher,” he added. “Once a n**ga says it’s quiet, it’s quiet. I’m fine with that. I’m a great musician. I’m gonna always create great music and I’ma be around for a very long time. Maybe in the future when the time is right, we’ll do something that’s right, that we both feel comfortable with.”

Lanez raps about the issue on the album’s AraabMUZIK-produced closer, “Don’t Die.” “I already know the outcome,” he raps. “I may have fucked it up with Nicki right before this album.” Check out the interview below:
