Birdman went on Beats 1 Tuesday afternoon to promote Before Anythang: The Cash Money Story, the soundtrack for which was released yesterday. During his interview with Ebro, he discussed the success of Cash Money artists like Lil Wayne and Drake, who he says has “single-handedly held this shit down.” He also told Ebro that he thinks Nicki Minaj is “the best female ever in hip-hop history.”
“That shit never been done before,” he said of her ability to chart as high as traditional pop stars, noting that he thinks she’s had more success than artists like Lil Kim and Missy Elliott.
“They took it, but not to that level,” he continued. “Missy went a little further than Kim….but not the level that Nicki at. She’s got the fashion, she just the icon. They got enough room in this game for everybody. With no disrespect, she’s got it, hands down.” Check out Birdman’s statement below:
