IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Viola Davis May Have Stole the Oscars with Her Acceptance Speech Alone; Per Usual

Queen of our hearts Viola Davis rounded off a stellar awards season last night by scooping the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her Fences performance. It was long overdue — she’d been nominated in 2012 for The Help and in 2009 for Doubt, but lost out both times.

Even so, it’s not like Davis’s mantlepiece has been absent of trophies in the intervening years. She’s won two Tony awards for her stage work (in 2001 and 2010), as well as a primetime Emmy in 2015 for her regular role in How to Get Away with Murder.

On the back of her Oscars triumph last night, she’s one Grammy award away from getting the EGOT (i.e. winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, as well as a Tony). If she were to be recognised by the Recording Academy, she’d join just 12 people to ‘EGOT’ to date, and be the second African American woman to achieve the honor, after Whoopi Goldberg. Already, Twitter’s flooded with creative ways that Ms Davis would be able to get that Grammy, whether dropping a fire mixtape or narrating an audiobook. Check out a few of the responses below.
