Keke Palmer and Usher are taking full advantage of their name being in the headlines by turning some real life drama into a new music video. Last month the pair were wrapped up in a news story together when a dress Palmer wore to one of the R&B legend’s shows in Vegas got some surprising attention. The drama was sparked by Keke’s partner Darius Jackson who took issue with her outfit in a series of social media posts. Now, they’re making the most of the high profile drama.
Usher just dropped his new single “Boyfriend,” his third new song of 2023. For the video he fittingly nabbed Keke. In the accompanying video the pair have a chance encounter in where else but Las Vegas. Even the lyrics of the song itself seem to reference the viral drama. Throughout the song Usher makes references to somebody’s boyfriend looking for him, presumably because of perceived advances he’s making on girls.
Now, one would think Darius isn’t exactly at home happy about this particular opportunity for Keke.. and if the “source” that reached out to the folks over at People are correct… he isn’t there at all. Soon after Usher’s new video premiered, a source for Darius says he’s making new moves of his own. “He’s moved on,” they were quoted.
According to the source, Jackson is focused on an acting career and wants to put the drama behind him. In terms of co-parenting, the pair are making it work, adding: “You don’t have to be in the same household to be good parents.”
The two, who welcomed son Leodis Andrellton Jackson in February, have not been spotted together since the incident and I guess now we pretty much know why. I’m willing to bet that this “source” was probably Darius himself, especially based on the timing, immediately after the Usher video.. seems like he wanted to make it clear he’s done. It’s never a good thing to see a couple split especially when there are kids involved but hopefully they can successfully co-parent. What are your thoughts on this mess?
