ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?: K. Michelle Flips a Modern Take on An R&B Classic on the Emotional “You” (VIDEO)

You know what? K could literally sing the alphabet and because of the raw emotion she effortlessly puts through in her songs.. you’re gonna feel it.

After previously teasing fans that she would be going full force with her passion for country music pretty soon, K Michelle has one last R&B album for us, and from the sounds of things, she’s going to make sure it hits hard. “My R&B album is definitely some ole school 90s R&B crying shit,” she teased. “I’m just going to pick the songs that show my true emotions. This is my last. I want to end honest,” she said of the upcoming project and based on this latest offering, she didn’t lie.

Friday (March 17th), K dropped off the first single from the project, a heartfelt ballad titled ‘You.’ Before premiering the track the singer said, “I’m excited to share ‘YOU’ with my fans, it’s a very personal song that speaks to the heart of what I do as an artist – creating music that connects with people on a deep level.”

Honestly, that’s exactly the feel I get from this particular track. It’s almost like even if you can’t relate, you can tell she’s singing from the hard which pulls you in. “I keep chasing, and replacing, Replacing you is hard to do, Since I’m being true, I can’t find another you,” K sings. The song contains a sample of Minnie Ripperton’s 1974 classic ‘Lovin’ You,’ which should also easily help it connect with listeners.

K. Michelle is currently on the “I’m The Problem Tour” which has already made stops in DC, Baltimore, Charlotte, New York, Boston culminating in Atlanta on April 8th. ‘I’m the Problem’ is also said to be the title of the forthcoming album which “You” is taken from. Take a look at the video for “You” below and let us know your verdict. ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?
