She’s definitely got a point. It’s very interesting how we not only saw plenty of other revealing looks on that same carpet, but we also see much more revealing choices celebrated on television and social media daily.
The hoopla surrounding the Oscars is fading, but people are still somehow discussing Ciara’s see through gown. The hitmaker was stunning in a Dundas dress that showed all her “goodies,” and it stole attention. Underneath, Ciara only wore pasties over her breasts and a thong to complete the breathtaking look, and reactions were a mixed bag. Critics called out the singer for stripping down to nearly nothing, mentioning that she often touts her faith. However, her defenders have rightfully clapped back, making for an ongoing conversation about what women “should” show off as wives and mothers.
On Instagram, CiCi uploaded a photo from the Academy Awards night and was soon flooded with reactions. Some men said they would never allow their wives to go outside in such a dress. The singer’s Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson husband didn’t seem to take issue with the dress as he stood proudly by his wife’s side. Of course, this caused the couples marriage to once again be a focus of social media.
Never one to do too harsh of a clap back, Ciara has mastered the art of responding to her detractors in a classy but very direct way. She seemingly responded to the controversy surrounding her see-through with a quick little TikTok video. In the video, Ci made light of the situation by being covered from head-to-toe in a white sheet and reenacted her red carpet walk, with a very simple caption… “selective outrage,” calling out the hypocrisy and misogyny of the commenters.
Selective outrage 😭
Her fans and others rallied around the ‘Level Up’ star, with one writing on TikTok: “Ciara’s Thought: ‘You happy now?!’”, another typed “P.E.T.T.Y. I love it !!!”. Take a look for yourself followed by some of the reactions and let us know your thoughts. Get em, CiCi!
All of this talk about Ciara’s dress and y’all didn’t mention that it wasn’t for the Oscars,
but an Oscar party themed-event

The outrage surrounding her stunning Vanity Fair Oscar’s Afterparty look is truly disturbing. Sheer was a common theme on this step & repeat. Majority of the celebrities/influencers participated in the trend, but only Ciara is being vilified. Y’all need to get a fucking grip! pic.twitter.com/CxwLTKDZkK

Y'all better leave Ciara alone. She looked phenomenal at the Oscars and there's nothing "disrespectful" or "inappropriate" about her dress. Bunch of jealous ass bitter Betty's and misogynistic assholes who run their mouths too much

Like Ciara said “Selective Outrage” because y’all not applying pressure on Beyonce like y’all did with Ciara and both women are happily married with Children so what’s the excuse now pic.twitter.com/t8YTWtleiS
