RAVEN SYMONE

In what will probably go down as one of the smartest career decisions ever, Raven Symone has announced that she is officially leaving talk show The View, to reprise the role which made much of a generation fall in love with her on Disney’s “That’s So Raven.”

She announced that her departure would be happening before the end of the year on Thursday morning, and that she’d be reprising the role as Raven Baxter for the upcoming as-of-yet titled spin-off. She said that this time around, she’ll be a single mom just trying to live her life. “There’s no title yet, but I’m calling it That’s So Raven 2. It’s Raven Baxter. It’s still me. But I am a mother this time. I’m going to be a single mother raising two kids, and one of them learns that she has visions,” Raven excitingly announced.

She added that they’ll be working on casting the show soon and that it’s still early days. But she is leaving. She said of her time on The View, “I’ve had such a great time. I’ve learned so much, and I’ve been saying, my experience has been multidimensional.”

I for one and extremely excited about this for one or two reasons. My inner-teenager loved Raven back in the day so I’m sure I’ll have this show as a guilty pleasure. Also, as someone who grew up with Raven, I can admit that it was very hard to watch much of her highly publicized criticisms for her…(we’ll just say) “different” opinion on the view. Hopefully this will help us remember the Raven that we fell in love with. Will you be tuning into the Raven reprise?
