Report: Derek Fisher’s Five NBA Championship Rings Stolen in Home Invasion

NBA legend Derek Fisher has become the victim of a home invasion, with the crooks reportedly getting away with $300,000 worth of jewelry, including all five of his championship rings earned with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The former point guard and one-time coach of the New York Knicks contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Monday morning to report a burglary at his home in the 5800 block of Shirley Avenue in Tarzana. Unnamed law enforcement sources told TMZ Sports that the 42-year-old Fisher told police he left his residence at around 7.30am, and when he returned about three hours later, he found the place to have been stripped of his most prized possessions

Investigators believe the thief slipped into Fisher’s home through a side door.
The perpetrator was said to have ransacked the former NBA star’s jewelry collection worth more than $300,000, including Fisher’s five championship rings, which he won in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010 during his time with the Lakers, reported Yahoo Sports.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests have been made. Fisher has not publicly commented on the burglary.

In the course of his storied career with the NBA, Fisher played 18 seasons with the Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks. He retired from playing in 2014 and was hired the same year as the head coach of the New York Knicks in hopes of improving the fortunes of the struggling basketball franchise.

Fisher’s coaching stint, however, proved short-lived and he was fired in February 2016, finishing his tenure in the Big Apple with a 40-96 overall record. After parting ways with the NBA, Fisher joined a local network in Los Angeles as a Lakers studio analyst.

The recently divorced father-of-three made headlines in late 2015 when he began dating Gloria Govan, the estranged wife of his one-time Lakers teammate and current Sacramento Kings player Matt Barnes, who was none too pleased about the pair’s budding romance.\

Barnes, 35, attacked Fisher at Govan’s home in October 2015 and was later suspended for two games and fined $35,000 by the NBA for defending his violent behavior.
