ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?: Tamar Braxton is Bringing Back That Classic R&B Sound with Her New Track – “Changed”

I’m not sure how many of you know this about me, but Tamar Braxton is easily in my Top 5. You can feel however you want about her but one thing is for certain, that voice cannot be denied.. and this track is a perfect example of that.

What did Lizzo say in that song? It’s about damn time.In celebration of her 46th birthday (March 17), Grammy-nominated songbird Tamar Braxton is back and has released “Changed,” her first proper single in over six years. The song was released under Braxton’s imprint Tamar Braxton Productions, in association with London-based indie label Platform Records.

The song is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Tamar which is quality sounding R&B, a classic feel, with a modern twist, ultimately making her music timeless. Her vocals are as good as always as she glides over the smooth production which samples SWV’s classic 1998 record “Rain”.

On the track, Tamar tackles a topic she (and most of us) know all too well, the up’s and down’s of love as she sings about getting the wool pulled over her eyes by a fraudulent lover who didn’t live up to the hype.

“I thought you were the man of my dreams / So how the hell was I wrong? / I gave you all of me, oh / Boy it coulda been you / I thought you were the guy of my dreams,” Braxton sings.

“Changed” is Braxton’s first new music, not attached to a soundtrack or feature appearance, since 2017’s Bluebird of Happiness. She hasn’t said much about a full length project being on the way just yet but we can only hope there’s more in the vault to come. Take a listen to ‘Changed’ below and let us know your verdict.
