Latto is back in her pop bag with a track that you’re surely about to hear in every retail store you can think of and all over TikTok. Did she hit the lottery with this one?
Latto isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The ATL rapper propelled to the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Big Energy.” A song that at the time was a first for her with it seeing her lean into a more mainstream pop direction. While this was called out as a negative by some fans at time, it obviously was the right move because the song was inescapable throughout 2022 as it dominated radio and became Latto’s biggest hit to date. It gained further steam when Mariah Carey even hopped on the remix. However, it seems like she’s aiming for aiming for the jackpot again and she’s here with a record with a similar formula.
She first teased the track on Instagram a few weeks ago with fans immediately taking a liking to the track. At the time, she told followers that “pop Latto [is] loading,” and boy did she deliver. The track is a feel good that doesn’t try too hard or get repetitive but instead delivers irresistible ear worm that on it’s hook that even if you thought you didn’t like it… you find yourself singing over and over after just the first listen. The makings of a hit.
“Ooh, If I let you put yo’ hands all over me, If I let you unwrap all this in the sheets, If I tell you all my dirty fantasies, You won the lottery, you won the lottery,” newcomer Lu Kala sings on the addictive hook as Latto accompanies with verses serving pure radio candy.
“It’s fun to explore and experiment and just learn what I’m really capable of as an artist,” Latto told the folks over at Complex discussing her process in crafting a more mainstream hit. “Anything and everything about it was just me testing the waters and loving what came out of it. I definitely have a broader mind going into those types of sessions because the beats are bigger and more commercial. But, I’m still being Latto.”
