KEEPING UP WITH THE PETTY: Drake’s New Song Features a Sample of Kim Kardashian Speaking on Divorcing Kanye West

Considering the long-standing…”rumors” about Drizzy smashing Kim K during her marriage to Kanye, Drake’s petty level may be up by at least 30% heading into the summer.

Drake previewed an upcoming song tentatively titled, “Rescue Me,” during Friday night’s episode of Sound 42’s The Fry Yiy Show on SiriusXM Radio. On the track, he samples Kim Kardashian discussing the idea of getting a divorce from Kanye West. The audio comes from an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2021.

“I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that,” Kim said in the clip. Kim and Kanye officially divorced in March of 2022, after six years of marriage. On the song, Drake appears to convey that he’s ready to hang up his player card and settle down with his ideal woman.

“I need someone to be patient with me/Someone to get money, would not take it from me/They don’t even need to be as famous as me/I don’t think I meet ’em at the places I be/But deep down I think about you all day, mami,” he rap-sings.

Given Drake and Ye’s shaky past (and rumors that Drake and Kim K. secretly had an affair), fans immediately saw Drake’s sampling as a shot at the Ye, and understandably so. On Her Loss, Drake subtly confirmed that he still wasn’t cool with Kanye. On the track “Circo Loco,” he raps, “Linking with the opps, b**ch I did that shit for J. Prince.”

If you recall, J. Prince is the music exec who helped Drake sign to Young Money — and reunited the Canadian musician with Ye for the Free Larry Hoover concert in 2021. At the time, the lengthy beef between the musicians seemed over.

But with moves like these from Drake, it appears he may not be quite ready to settle his scores with Ye. No word yet on exactly where this song is from…Will Drake drop this song as a single soon? Does the 6 God have more in the vault for, say, another album? Do you think this was a petty move? Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z.
