The former stepdaughter of Nicki Minaj’s brother gave horrifying details Monday about how her former stepfather allegedly repeatedly raped her in their Long Island, N.Y., home beginning when she was just 11 years old.
The 13-year-old testified that Jelani Maraj, 38, threatened to have her taken away from her mother if she did not comply with his sick wishes, according to Page Six. He also instructed her on how to make the forced anal sex less painful, she said in court.
“He would call me his puppet and say I had no say in what he did to me,” the girl testified.
The girl said that the alleged abuse began in April 2015, while she was living with her mother and Maraj on Long Island. It started with Maraj rubbing his erection on her but, she said, escalated one morning when she went in to greet him.
“It was a Saturday morning,” the girl said. “I had went to him to go say, ‘Good morning.’ I had hugged him as usual. I went to go lie next to him as I usually do. When I did that, he told me to go close the door. He told me to take off my pants. Then he told me to come under the covers with him and he started caressing me.”
The teen testified that Maraj had sex with her, then ejaculated in her mouth. From then on, he frequently raped her after school.
“We would have sex in his bedroom, in my bedroom, in the basement,” the teen said.
She told the court that Maraj tried to make her think the attacks were her fault by telling her that she was sending him signals. He told her that she had been brushing herself up against him, so she wanted it to happen.
That summer, Maraj began anally sodomizing her, she testified.
“He used lubricant and told me to breathe properly and not to clench so it wouldn’t hurt so much,” she said. “It hurt. I told him to stop and tried to push him away.”
The victim testified that the day her 8-year-old brother walked in and caught Maraj in the act, she “was on my forearms on the bed and my pants were pulled down.” She told her brother not to tell anyone what happened for fear that they would be “sent away.”
Maraj’s lawyer claims that the girl’s mother, Jacqueline Robinson, instructed her children to lie as part of a plot to extort $25 million from Nicki Minaj.
