TUNED IN OR TUNED OUT?: Kevin Hart Reportedly Getting His Own Animated Comedy Series On Fox “Lil Kev”

It looks like Kevin Hart is taking his talents to the small screen. According to Deadline, the Philadelphia comedian is getting his own animated TV series called Lil Kev which will be coming to Fox. Written by Michael Price (The Simpsons) and Matt Claybrooks, Lil Kev will be a series based on Hart’s childhood, with voice overs coming from Kevin Hart (of course), Wanda Sykes, Keith Robertson, Gerald Johnson, and Deon Cole.

The show’s premise allegedly focuses around “the story of a 12-year-old, pint-sized, optimistic, highly imaginative kid who navigates growing up in the crime filled inner-city of North Philly,” Deadline reports. The series will also include appearances from “his strong, quick-tempered mother, drug addicted father, pessimistic older brother, ex-con uncle, and wise-ass talking dog.”

Fox’s new entertainment president, Michael Thorn, gave his own theory of the show’s plotline and said, “It’s About Kevin Hart’s experiences growing up and how his relationship with his mother and his community led to his optimistic, positive outlook despite some of the challenges and circumstances that he grew up with.”

Thorn also added that Lil Kev was made because of Fox’s desire to add new animated programming. “I really want a new animated series, that’s a huge priority,” he said. “It’s a such a strong part of our brand. I think what many people think of Fox is they think of our animated shows, and it would be great to add another original animated series to go with the three series we have on right now: The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers.”

No word yet when the animated series will air, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted once we find out, along with any other information. Who’s interested in seeing an animated Kevin Hart show on Fox? Are you tuned in or tuned out?
