Janet Jackson and her husband, Wissam Al Mana, are splitting after five years of marriage. A representative for the singer told revealed that the couple has separated, but not announced plans to divorce.

Al Mana holds, 42, degrees from  George Washington University and the  London School of Economics.
The couple reside in London and the British press had speculated that Jackson, who was raised a Jehovah’s Witness, recently converted to Islam. (She had ended concerts with the Arabic phrase “Inshallah,” which translates to ‘If Allah wills it’ 

While the couple has not revealed the reason for the split, The New York Post quoted unnamed friends of the singer as claiming Al Mana was controlling on matters ranging from her wearing suggestive stage clothing to appearing in public immediately after the birth of their son.

Jackson’s net worth has been estimated at $175 million and Al Mana’s at more than $1 billion. TMZ speculated the the couple’s pre-nuptial agreement will included a large pay-out if the marriage lasted five year or more and there was a child involved. The marriage recently hit five years and two months.
