At the end of the day, regardless of who you’re a fan of, black women deserve justice. Now, that the court got it right, we can just pray for Megan’s healing.
A wise woman once said, when you do clownery…the clown comes back to bite. After three years of speculation, hearsay, drama, and social media division, we have finally arrived at the conclusion of the seemingly never-ending case against Tory Lanez for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.. for now. Back in December, after a lengthy trial, a jury found the pint-sized rapper guilty of all charges: assault with a semi-automatic firearm (personal use of a firearm); carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
Based on the charges alone, Tory faced a maximum of 22 years and eight months in prison. Prosecutors were said to be seeking 13 years in prison for his crime, while the defense put in a request that was clearly wishful thinking, asking for his release followed by probation and a drug program. His original sentencing date was set for June, but he and his team pulled numerous stalling tactics and got it pushed back. However, those days are over and we have reached the end of the road. After a full day of sympathy letters and pleas on Tory’s behalf, including him taking the stand himself… today, August 8th Judge David Herriford sentenced the miniature Canadian star to 10 years in prison.
As persistant as Tory has been in fighting for his freedom, it’s expected that his team will attempt to appeal this, however that is a very lengthy process and he certainly won’t be seeing the light of day outside of the jail yard anytime soon. What do you think about the sentencing?
Tory spoke for several minutes. He said he still cares about Megan. He called her "someone I still care for dearly to this day" regardless of what she may think of him.
He said "the victim's my friend." He talked about bonding with her over the loss of their mothers.— Meghann Cuniff (@meghanncuniff) August 8, 2023
"We both lost our mothers. We would sit there and drink, and drink until we got numb," Tory Lanez said of Megan Thee Stallion

About the shooting: "I said some very immature things that I shouldn't have said. I revealed some secrets I shouldn't have revealed," Lanez said.
