SHOW ME THE MONEY: Nick Cannon Sued for $1.75 million for Allegedly Stealing Talent Search App

Nick Cannon just lost his main source of income after quitting America’s Got Talent, but this star could be face an even bigger financial blow.

A lawsuit has been filed against Nick Cannon accusing him of stealing the idea to do a talent discovery app and now he’s being sued for a staggering $1.75 million. Enrico Taylor from I Discover Talent claims in legal filings reported by TMZ that the 36-year-old former AGT host launched his N’credible app – which is meant to help discover starts across the country – after hearing about the one Taylor had developed.

Nick’s app was launched in 2016 as an extension of her management and music company N’credibe, and allowed for comedians, singers, rappers and model to audition for Nick without having to have an in-person audition.

The I Discover Talent app – which was launched in 2015 by Taylor and LaVern Whitt, who claims to have helped launched the career of Jada Pinkett-Smith – is according a ‘portal where artists can freely post cover tunes and original artistic videos with a chance to be seen by industry professionals’ and be signed.

Taylor claims in his lawsuit and in an interview with TMZ, that the reason they sound so similar is that he took the idea to Nick first. Taylor claims he met Nick in early 2015 to get him on board with the IDS company, and Taylor tried to sell him on it by telling Nick how he had already teamed with hip hop giant Birdman to run a digital talent search for Cash Money Records as well.

Taylor claims Nick loved the idea because he was ‘growing tired of his America’s Got Talent job.’
However, the host then did not talk to Taylor again and, five months later, Nick’s own talent search app came out.
The IDS developer claims even Nick’s social media shout out to get people to sign up was just like the one Birdman did to get people to go to the original Cash Money version.

Taylor is now suing not just because he said Nick copied his idea but because the Wild N Out star executed his so poorly that because of how unsuccessful it is, it is affecting Taylor’s ability to get his app off the ground.

To compensate him for taking the idea and negatively impact his app, Taylor is asking for $1.75 million. But it did not look like the impending lawsuit or the change in his employment status had Nick down on Sunday night as he sat courtside at the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans. I honestly don’t even see this one making it to court.
