Michael Mosley’s been doing solid roles in TV and film as far back as 2002.
He’s now gearing up to star in Netflix’s new show Sevon Seconds which revolves around an accident involving an African-American child and a police officer. The show’s been catching a lot of attention over the past few weeks. At the early stages of his career, he was in Law & Order: SVU. In a recent interview, he spoke on a certain scene that he shot during the show with one of hip hop’s OG’s that resulted in him getting slapped repetitively.
Mosley recently chopped it up with the folks over atHipHopDX and recalled a certain moment while shooting Law & Order: SVU where he played a junkie on the show. He recalled Ice-T having to repeatedly slap him while playing opposite to him as a junkie.
“I had one scene in it, and I was just starting out as an actor. I’m supposed to play this junkie who’s nodding off, and the scene opens with [Ice] smacking me across the face like ‘Wake up.’ We do a little rehearsal and then the director calls ‘action’ and this guy hits me so hard across the side of my face. He’s got a paw like a hubcap, and he just knocks me and the lines just go out my ear and I’m [disoriented],” he said to them.
He continued to explain that because he was so new to the world of acting, he wanted to leave a good impression and not back out of it, even though he was in pain.
“I’m this young actor and I’m not gonna be a wimp about it,” he explained. “So I’m like, ‘Ok, this is what we’re doing. This is method right?’ So we do take after take. It was probably at least 12 takes, and he just keeps hitting me, hitting me, hitting me and it’s getting harder and harder for me to maintain. When they cut in between scenes, he just pulled out his sidekick and wandered over here and then came back and it was like ‘speed, sound, action’ and wap! And the crew wants to go home. It’s Friday night and the director is like, ‘You’re doing it weird. What is happening?’ And I’m like, ‘Well, he’s hitting me.”
Unfortunately, Mosley ended up feeling Ice-T’s hit a few times for no reason. The show ended up cutting that scene out in the final scene.
