THAT RIHANNA REIGN JUST WON’T LET UP: Rihanna Set To Host The 2018 Met Gala

Rihanna has had a stellar year so far. With her most recent feature on N.E.R.D’s “Lemon” and the killer success of her Fenty beauty line, the Barbadian born singer will now be adding another exciting venture to her resume as she’s set to host the 2018 Met Gala.

Deemed as fashion’s biggest night of the year, it’s no surprise that Rihanna has been tapped to lead the event since she’s known for her killer fashion sense and the ability to look good in any garment.

The singer will be leading the show with the likes of Amal Clooney, Anna Wintour and Donatella Versace. Every year has a different theme for the dress code, with last year being Comme des Garcons’s Rei Kawakubo and was hosted by Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady.

2018’s theme will be “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” There’s no telling how Rihanna will stun the red carpet in a theme surrounded by religious art. With the event taking place on May 7, 2018, we’ll have to mark our calendars and wait until then.

Rihanna’s last big fashion debut saw her on the cover of Vogue Arabia resembling Queen Nefertiti, one of Egypt’s most celebrated figures. Although she captivated many with her beauty and grace, lots of fans, especially those with a Twitter account, were not pleased with her appearance on the magazine, calling her out for cultural appropriation.

Vogue dealt with the same backlash from critics after featuring Kendall Jenner on Vogue India. The publication came out with a statement at the time that read:

“India has given the world so many beautiful faces to admire. After all, we are Vogue, an international brand, and we want to give the love back by featuring some of the best international celebrities on our covers. Occasionally!”
