Beyoncé’s and Solange’s father, Matthew Knowles, is battling breast cancer.
Knowles, 67, revealed his diagnosis in an interview with Michael Strahan on “Good Morning America”. The interview is set to air on Wednesday.
Breast cancer in men is rare, with 99 per cent of all breast cancer cases diagnosed in women. The odds of a man getting breast cancer are approximately 1,000 to 1. “GMA” released a short teaser ahead of Wednesday’s episode, in which Strahan asks Knowles how he told his daughters, Beyoncé and Solange.
Mathew Knowles is best known for managing Destiny’s Child during their career, but has been out of the public eye after Beyoncé cut ties with him professionally.
Mathew and their mom, Tina, split in 2009 after it was revealed he had fathered a child with another woman.
The duo were married for 31 years total. In 2013, he remarried and neither Beyoncé nor her sister Solange attended the wedding. Take a look at the preview of the GMA interview below:
