OH NO!: Venus Williams Blamed in Fatal Car Crash that Killed 78-year-old Man

Tennis hero Venus Williams has been blamed for a fatal car crash that claimed the life of an elderly man in Florida.

Williams, 37, was at a major intersection in Palm Beach Gardens on June 9 when her car was T-boned by another vehicle that had right of way, a police report said.

A passenger in the second vehicle, Jerome Barson, 78, was sent to the ICU with head injuries from the accident – and died there two weeks later, TMZ reported.

Barson’s wife, who was driving the other car, told police that Williams shot out at the corner of Ballenisles Drive and Northlake Boulevard. That didn’t give her enough time to slow down, she said.

That led to the collision that ultimately claimed the life of her husband, as her car struck the front-left corner of Williams’ SUV.

Williams, on the other hand, told police that she had tried to make it through the traffic intersection, but that when traffic slowed down she was left stranded in the middle of the road.

The cops ultimately came out against Williams, according to the report.'[Venus] is at fault for violating the right of way of [the other driver],’ it said.

The driver of the car that struck Williams was also sent to hospital with broken bones and other injuries. She has not been identified. There is no evidence that Williams had been drinking or had taken any substances that might have impaired her judgement, the report said. It also said that there was no evidence she had been distracted by an electronic device.
