OH NO!: Floyd Mayweather’s Bodyguard Shot Outside Atlanta Hotel

Investigations are underway after a bodyguard of famed boxer Floyd Mayweather was shot in front of the InterContinental Hotel early Monday morning.

At 3 a.m., police were called to the intersection of Peachtree Road and Highland Drive for a shooting. Three vehicles were returning to the hotel after a night out at a club on Buford Highway, according to police. Officials said the three SUVs were leaving a nearby Waffle House when several shots were fired into the lead vehicle.

Police believe that Mayweather was in one of the vehicles during the incident but said he was not inside the SUV where a bodyguard, Gregory Larosa was shot. Police said the suspect’s vehicle pulled up next them at the intersection and fired several times at one of the vehicles, hitting Larosa in the leg.

Atlanta Police said Larosa stated at the scene he was Mayweather’s bodyguard.

After being following by the assailant for an unknown amount of time, all three vehicles were able to eventually lose them and the vehicle with wounded Larosa drove to Grady where he received treatment. Police Larosa was later discharged from Grady around 5:30 a.m.

Atlanta police said there was no evidence that fire was exchanged between the suspect’s white SUV and the three vehicles involved.

Police do believe this was a targeted shooting and this incident is still under investigation.

Mayweather was seen in a Snapchat video posted out of the Medusa Lounge located at 3375 Buford Highway NE at around 2:00 a.m., prior to the shooting.
