It looks like Ryan Destiny is finally ready for her coming out party…and we are definitely here to attend it.
Rising actress and singer Ryan Destiny is certainly no stranger to the music scene. After having spent her late-teenage years as part of an all-woman R&B group, called Love Dollhouse, Destiny landed herself a main role on Lee Daniels’s musical drama Star on FOX and quickly became a fan favorite from the show’s first season to it’s unexpected cancellation in 2019. With that behind her, Michigan native has now decided she is going solo, smooth vocals and a late-’90s R&B vibe. As she rereleases her single, ‘The Same,’ with it’s long-anticipated video.
The song was previously released by Destiny in 2018 but due to her obligations with ‘Star,’ was never pushed to it’s full potential. However, it appears Destiny is now ready to get things going as she repackages the track with a feature from Tobi Lou and a equally smooth video showcasing some serious early 2000’s aesthetics.
“The record is about a situation with a guy who’s a constant cycle of the same lines, lies, games and little to no effort. [Featured artist] Tobi adds his perspective from a male standpoint and the two worlds are brought together in an honest but fire way, I think,” Ryan told the folks over at Essence on the songs subject matter.
Quotable lyrics:
These n*ggas tell you what you want to hear
Everything has a price
Who here gon’ sacrifice
Don’t know exactly what you want to hear
Still I can’t tell you if you hardly here
I mean that shit both ways
Your friends all ask you “what you waiting on?”
