Is Pretty Yellow indeed the ‘next big thing?’
Pretty Yellow is a fiery, lyrical assassin from the small town of Covington, Louisianna. Yellow began to light fire on the scene as the winner of BET’s music competition series ‘The Next Big Thing.’ The hip hop docuseries competition, launched with the goal of finding a winning artist, who was diligent and dope enough to secure the bag and a record deal. With Yellow snatching the title after weeks of challenges and even being mentored by the late Nipsey Hussle, fans have since been looking forward to the next chapter in her musical career. She released her EP ‘Up Shit,’ shortly after the series finale and is now presenting the video for her first single off of the EP, ‘Hoody Hoo.’
‘Hoody Hoo,’ is a welcome introduction to everything Pretty Yellow is about. The fiery MC spits quickly while simultaneously brining the personality that resonated with her many followers during her ‘Next Big Thing’ stint on the heavy trunk-rattler produced by Shod Beatz. She talks tough and brags big and of course, saves some jabs for the haters in the performance driven video. With a hook that seems tailor made to fit in with many of today’s popular hits, it’s clear Yellow may have a fan favorite on her hands.
