If you couldn’t help but wonder whether or not there would there be a third Sex and the City movie, sadly the answer, finally, officially, is no.
On Thursday Carrie Bradshaw herself (aka Sarah Jessica Parker) told Extra the third installation in the Sex and the City movie franchise is no-go.
Despite the movie having been green-lit, Parker told Extra “It’s over. We’re not doing it.”
She followed up the troubling news by empathizing with fans but offered no further details as to why the movie was no longer proceeding. “I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story,” she said.
“It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.”
Though rumors that actress Kim Cattrall — who starred as Samantha Jones in the series — was to blame for the cancelation swirled after a Daily Mail article claimed her studio demands were too outrageous, Cattrall denied this was the case.
“The only demand I ever made was that I didn’t want to do a third film” Cattrall claimed on Twitter, referencing her hesitation back in 2016.
Woke 2 a @MailOnline ?storm! The only 'DEMAND' I ever made was that I didn't want to do a 3rd film….& that was back in 2016
