The Popeye’s chicken sandwich phenomenon just won’t let up.
Popeyes struck gold with its new chicken sandwich. It incited a war with Chick-fil-A that gave people many feelings, and customers responded so well to it that it sold out in a matter of days. A man is even suing the chain because he’s so upset over not getting to try one.
So while many are out here just trying to get one, Popeyes recently sent musician Diplo an entire plane full of them. The DJ posted a photo on Instagram writing, “Popeye’s heard I wanted to try their sandwich so they sent me some in a jet…. Wendy’s your move.”
While it’s unclear if the private jet was in fact stocked with sandwiches, we do know that Diplo boarded said jet with two bags of them. Once on the plane, Diplo posted a video on his Instagram story where you can hear someone saying, “We got ’em man.”
This obvious gloating begs the question, “Where did these sandwiches even come from?!” The chain claims to have sold out of them, so of course some folks are going to need answers ASAP. Popeyes wrote on Instagram that it’s working to get the sandwich back as soon as possible. Is this sandwich really this damn y’all?
