GOD’S PLAN?: Drake Surpasses Michael Jackson In His Latest Billboard Hot 100 Accomplishment

Drake passes Michael Jackson as second-most weeks logged in at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Many people may have handed Drake the L in the Pusha T beef, but it hasn’t really affected the “I’m Upset” rapper’s commercial performance. For the majority of the year, Drake dominated the top of the Billboard Hot 100. His first major single of the year, “God’s Plan” was an instantaneous hit that debuted at the top of the charts. For eleven weeks, it held the top spot until Drizzy released his single, “Nice For What.” That song has dominated the charts since its release with the exception of a few weeks where it slipped. As it reclaims the number one spot this week, Drake surpasses one of pop’s greatest legends on the charts.

Drake’s “Nice For What” is back at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 after Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign held down the top spot last week. With “Nice For What” back on top, Drake has passed Michael Jackson for the second most weeks logged in at number one for solo male artists. Michael Jackson has 37 weeks while Drake now has 38 under his belt. He’s currently trailing behind Usher who’s logged on 47 weeks at the top.

If Drake ends up having more songs on Scorpion that are as strong as his first two lead singles this year, there’s no doubt that he could surpass Usher’s record. Scorpion drops on June 29th. Keep your eyes peeled.
