IF IT’S IN GOD’S PLAN: Drake Reportedly Asks Judge For Social Media Ban In Upcoming Assault Trial

Things might be working out well for Drake on a music front, but there’s still some legal issues he has to deal with. Back in 2016, Drake and his bodyguard, Chubbs, were accused of punching producer Detail in the face and allegedly breaking his jaw. The trial is set to start next month, however, a report claims that Drake is seeking to get the judge to ban any social media posts as evidence in the case.

According to TheBlast, Drake’s asking the judge to ban Detail from using any sort of social media posts as evidence in the upcoming assault trial. He’s specifically seeking a ban from “any statements that originated from websites, social media and on the Internet.” He reportedly claimed in his motion that due to his fame, blogs and websites use his name as a way to gain traction and the stories presented from these sources, there could be a high risk of prejudice.

His motion reads, “Due to the plethora of news stories available, and after observing Detail’s inclination towards muddying the waters by introducing said news stories during the deposition of Chubbs, Drake is concerned Detail may try to introduce the same stories at trial.”

Additionally, the report claims that Drake also believes that the jury would be more swayed by the media’s word than the testimonies from the witnesses themselves. His attorneys say the stories “would result only in confusing the jury and skewing their interpretations of the testimony and document presented at trial.”

We’ll keep you posted on more information pertaining to the trial.
