In a statement released on Thursday (Oct. 12), Xscape announced that Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes was removed from hosting their reunion tour after making a controversial statement about a heckler at her recent stand-up comedy show.
NeNe was on stage during Saturday’s “Girls Nite Out” in Oakland when she was caught on video wishing rape on a heckler who booed her over a joke about male Uber drivers trying to have sex with their female passengers.
“I ain’t even gonna tell you about the goddamn Uber driver. I hope he rape yo’ ass tonight when he take you home, bitch,” Leakes said in the video. “And steal yo’ funky hello kitty, bitch.”
Although NeNe apologized for the joke, it wasn’t enough for Xscape who emphasized they came to the decision as supporters of all women and all female rape victims.
“This tour is for and about our fans and we want to provide an entertaining and enjoyable experience for every single person who attends,” the group said in the statement.
