Isn’t it ironic how stone cold thugs who are comfortable being the literal statistic to what racists think our black men are, feel as though what they represent would be so much more admirable than their child simply identifying as a part of the LGBTQ community?
Coming from a man who once offered to buy his 13-year-old son “head from a bad b*tch” for his birthday, it’s ironic Boosie thinks anyone should be listening to his parental advice. On February 11, former NBA star Dwyane Wade announced that his 12-year-old child would now be going by the name Zaya and identifies as female. He told Ellen DeGeneres, “Me and my wife, Gabrielle Union, we are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community and we’re proud allies as well. We take our roles and responsibilities as parents very seriously.”
This morning, Wade sat down with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America and opened up about Zaya’s journey.
Wade, who is promoting the ESPN documentary D. Wade: Life Unexpected, explained Zaya has known her gender identity since she was a toddler, “She’s known it for nine years. She’s known since she was three years old. Along this way we’ve asked questions and we’ve learned. But she’s known.”
He also detailed how he had to handle his own biases with having a transgender child, “I knew early on that I had to check myself. That’s what I knew. I knew early on that I had to ask myself questions. I’ve been a person in a locker room that has been a part of the conversation that has said the wrong phrases and the wrong words myself.”
Somewhere along the lines, rapper Boosie decided his generally ignorant input was needed here and couldn’t keep his cool and went on a rant about Wade’s acceptance of his child’s gender identity via Instagram. “I gotta say something about this shit. Dwyane Wade you’ve gone too fucking far. That’s a male. A 12 year old don’t know what he want,” the ignorant rapper sounded off, before somehow automatically equating Wade’s acceptace of his daughter’s gender identity with “cutting his d*ck off.” The amount of ignorance around this topic is actually quite eye opening.
