DJ Jazzy Jeff feels that Chance the Rapper best embodies the energy of the original “Fresh Prince” character.
While actual details on the production end have been hard to come by, the idea of a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot has never the less taken the internet by storm, summoning original cast members back into the spotlight. One cast member whose opinion has been counted on is the Fresh Prince’s sidekick himself, DJ Jazzy Jeff.
DJ Jazzy Jeff sat down with HipHopDX, in Krakow, Poland, where the DJ is a member of the judges panel at the Red Bull 3Style World Finals. He was asked to name a young rapper that embodies the same charisma that Will had, to which he responded:
“I think Chance would be a really good Fresh Prince cause Chance always seems to have a lighthearted demeanour. He’s got a serious side to him but Chance is always smiling. Chance is always trying to do something really positive. I think Chance would be a really good Fresh Prince.”
Suffice to say, we don’t know which direction the show creators are going for the reboot. They may decide to go with a female lead, as rumour suggests.
