KEN’S PICK: Ciara Levels Up on the Girl Power Vibes Linking with Lola Brooke & Lady London for ‘Da Girls’ (Remix)

My thing is this, if you can give me a song that’s not only a vibe that I can bop to.. but it’ll also make me feel good empowered at the same damn time? Oh, we’ve got a winner. Especially heading into the summer.

We’re calling all the girls to the floor as Ciara has teamed up with Lola Brooke and Lady London for a remix of her empowering new single, “Da Girls.” Just a few weeks back Ciara set the internet on fire with her track “Da Girls” and immediately got people talking. Timed perfectly during Women’s History Month back in March, “Da Girls” is a vibe out, bass-heavy track filled with affirming lyrics meant to uplift and celebrate women, instead of denigrating them.

The conversation around the track varied as many were feeling it’s vibe and motivational lyrics, but there were also some who seemed to misunderstand the overall message questioning how a married woman can be so proud to claim her independence. Yes, there’s actually people who don’t understand that.. but that’s another topic for another day, let’s get back into this drop.

After setting the tone with the original release, Ciara isn’t done bringing the girl power vibes just yet as she just leveled up (see what I did there?) the original and joined forces with rappers Lola Brooke and Lady London for the official remix. After being teased via a viral IG clip just a week or so ago, the mix has arrived with equally feel good music video where the trio spends the day letting loose in a luxurious mansion.

On the updated rendition, Lola kicks things off with her freshly added verse, which makes sure to give a shoutout to the originator herself: “Two steps ahead Like Ci, fitted in Fenty, I’m bad like Rih/ I’m thee, I’m she, I don’t need no he, these Black girl braids gon’ hug my cheeks (come on)/ What I look like being pressed? Gonna rock these pants like a freakum dress/ Got my name engraved on American Express”

Lady London then slides in with an undeniably smooth verse that somehow manages to get me motivated, but keep me relaxed at the same time…a unique combination, but a vibe none the less. Take a look at the video for ‘Da Girls’ remix and let us know your thoughts. Are you feeling the remix?
