THE PEOPLE’S CHAMP: Cardi B Makes History as ‘Bodak Yellow’ Hits #1 On Billboard’s Hot 100

Congratulations are in order as our girl Cardi B now officially has the biggest song in the country! “Bodak Yellow” is now the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the chart dated Oct. 7.

“Bodak Yellow” is the first song by a female artist to top the chart in 19 years. Cardi B is also the second female artist to ever top the chart by herself; before her, Lauryn Hill hit No. 1 with “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in November 1998. Cardi is also only the fifth female rapper to ever grab the No. 1 slot.

Over the weekend, the Bronx rapper got a nod on Twitter from none other than J. Cole, who told her not to stress about her debut album. “Cardi b I seen your breakfast club interview, loved it,” he wrote. “Don’t put all that pressure on your album. You already won. Just drop & repeat.”

Cardi, who’s signed to Atlantic Records, recently revealed her debut album was pushed back a bit. With her hit single now topping the chart, her debut LP should be right around the corner. We have literally been an avid supporter of Cardi since her beginnings making instagram vides. Now to see her sharing her talent with the world while making history at the same time, is everything. To think this is only the beginning! GO CARDI!
