ISSA BOP OR ISSA FLOP?: Remy Ma Channels a Sexier Vibe for Her New Single & Video “Company” (featuring A Boogie)

The ladies of hip-hop have been making their rounds this month, with the success of Cardi B‘s debut album “Invasion of Privacy” and Nicki Minaj making her return with two new tracks “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun Li,” both of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Now, Remy Ma is stepping back in the ring with her new single, “Company,” released with it’s accompanying video today.

The track showcases Remy going a bit different that her norm, opting for a sexier laid back vibe which she acknowledged when describing the track, “I wanted to do a record that was fun and different for me,” she explained. “So I went home to the Bronx and linked up with my homie A Boogie to give you ‘Company.’”

The video begins with a larger than life version of Remy growing restless in her hotel room/dressing room. The song and video shift in perspective as it turns to A Boogie’s part. An attendant carts A Boogie around on a mobile clothing rack, demonstrating his carefree spirit. Remy’s flare-up demonstrates that the opposite is true in her mind. She raps “I ain’t got no time for him,” or rather his antics. Remy is all business, A Boogie skirts around the issue of seriousness. Such is the tale of a good age gap romance.
