Over the past couple of years, Cardi B has become one of the most beloved pop culture figures in the world, as evidenced by factors like her streaming numbers, her Super Bowl commercial, and her upcoming debut film role. However, it seems Cardi can also be used as the prime example of how some individuals may support you when you’re the underdog, but flip the script once you get to a certain level of success.
In an Instagram Live video that resurfaced over the weekend (thanks to obsessed and jealous fans of other female rappers), Cardi B got emotional when explaining the lengths she’s had to go to make it prior to her come up. At one point in the clip from over three years ago, Bardi recalls to robbing men who wanted to have sex with her during her time as a stripper in New York just to get by.
With Cardi’s statements going viral, her detractors joined together in getting the hashtag in attempting to have the rapper “cancelled,” this probably being their 20th attempt since her amazing rise.
After remaining silent through most of the hate, Cardi took to Instagram today (March 26th) to not only state her case, but own her truths, and display why she’s the relatable sensation fans have grown to know and love.
“All I can do now is be a better me for myself my family and my future,” Bardi captioned the lengthy statement. Aside from the usual group of expected haters, Cardi has since received a great outpour of love in the comments of the statement, understanding that she’s always been open and honest with her life.
