Cardi B ain’t going nowhere, but to the top of the charts.
After immediately being identified as a fan-favorite from the moment it was released, Cardi B’s new single “I Like It” has climbed all the way to No. 1 after only a few weeks on the Hot 100 singles chart.
“I Like It” is Cardi B’s second No. 1 single bringing Cardi an unprecedented feat in the chart’s history, as she becomes the first female rapper with two No. 1s. She first reigned with her debut hit, “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” for three weeks beginning Oct. 7, 2017.
The song is the first chart-topper on the all-genre singles ranking for both J Balvin and Bad Bunny, who are featured.
In addition to being her second leader on the Hot 100, “I Like It” is Cardi B’s sixth top 10, and she’s managed to collect all of those smashes in less than a year. The track is the second top 10 on the all-encompassing listing for J Balvin, who rose all the way to No. 3 last year with the Beyoncé-assisted “Mi Gente.” For Bad Bunny, “I Like It” marks his first appearance inside the region.
“I Like It” debuted at No. 8 on the Hot 100 the week that Cardi B’s debut album Invasion of Privacy claimed the throne on the Billboard 200. It then dropped slightly, but once it was properly promoted as a single, the cut quickly returned to the top 10, and it has been rising ever since.
“I Like It” takes the reigns from XXXTentacion’s “Sad!,” which last week jumped from outside the Top 40 all the way to No. 1. The track, which rose into the top 10 earlier this year, exploded in popularity following the artist’s shooting death in June.
