A deed which seemed to be with good intentions initially, was quickly shut down.
On Friday, Reggie Bush and his wife Lilit Bush announced that they had started a GoFundMe account to raise money for Nipsey Hussle’s two kids, Emani and Kross. The couple shared that they had donated 10K of their own money and that they were looking to reach a goal of 100k by April 19th.
“In partnership with GoFundMe and with the help of our marketing team over at CAA, we have been empowered by Lauren London, Nipsey’s girlfriend, to put together a GofundMe account that directly benefits Nipsey’s two kids, Emani and Kross,” Reggie said in a video announcement.
Lilit added, “We feel so blessed that we got to live at the same time as a spirit such as Nipsey’s. God got to work through a man who found his purpose on his earth and touched so many lives….”
Though many of Reggie’s followers appreciated his fundraising efforts, others wondered why the former NFL player was asking money for ‘kids who were set for life”.
Yoooo respect to NIP off top, but you want us to donate to children who are already set for life?? One of those kids happen to be Lil Wayne’s… that kid ain’t starvin…. that makes no sense. Again no disrespect but come on… there are real poor people who need it pic.twitter.com/FD0swtrgak

I’m trying to understand why you thought this was okay ? They are NOT struggling or hurting for ANYTHING! His sales alone for everything has went up and that goes straight to his family! You’re asking us for 100k tf that’s gonna do for them ?! Is this a joke ?

Also, once Nipsey’s family caught wind of what they were doing, they asked Reggie to delete the campaign. Nipsey’s good friend and business partner Karen Civil took to Twitter to address the matter publicly asking that the campaign be taken down. “Please delete this as this was publicly asked of you already. The family nor Lauren requested this and you did it anyway,” she tweeted.
Reggie responded to hhe backlash by taking down the GoFundMe page and also removing any evidence that it ever existed from his social media. What do you guys think? Was his gesture in bad taste?
