The war of words between the ex-partners has gotten so ugly that MTV has decided to take measures to separate in the likelihood they cross paths at the VMAs. MTV will beef up their security for the event, in order to protect the invited guests, and perhaps Nicki & Safaree from their own self-destructive tendencies. Nicki is scheduled to perform, while Safaree’s invitation belies any real significance.
Tempers really kicked off after Safaree claimed Nicki stabbed him in a fit of rage, after previously accusing her of domestic abuse. These accusations were interlaced between soundbites where Safaree appeared to beg and plead for his former lover. As you might expect, Nicki wasn’t having it.
The folks over at TMZ have learned that security have all been brief on the 7-year timeline of distrust. Depending on how you frame the situation, Nicki won’t want her dysfunctional ties to Safaree Samuels get in way of a crowning performance. She’ll want to navigate the situation with utmost diligence, since Radio City Hall would be the perfect locale to consolidate her reign over New York rap. It wasn’t so long ago that Nicki Minaj upstaged everyone, including Miley Cyrus at the 2015 VMAs. Safaree would be wise to keep quiet.
