Lil Kim goes awff for “the girls and women all over the world.”
Back in February, Rap legend Lil Kim revealed plans to release her first major label project in over 14 years, before plainly shutting down any further commentary, likely in preparation for the big step. Within the same month, Kim previewed the first taste of the record’s first single “Go Awf” on the catwalk of NY Fashion Week before releasing the mastered version a couple of days later.
By adding a secondary visual layer to the song, Lil Kim effectively bolsters a lyrical message of the song. The “Go Awff” video is obviously driven to empower women around the world, according to Kim, who explained her motivations in a letter forwarded to Complex’s editorial desk.
“I wanted to make a record that was empowering to girls and women all over the world to get back to my roots and not just my ladies but my boys too,” she explained. Kim’s 14-year drought will end no sooner than May 17, when her ‘Nine’ album hits the streaming world.
