Rapper Foxy Brown has been personally affected by Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policy.
On Thursday (June 22), the Brooklyn rapper posted an Instagram message and said her father wasn’t let into the United States after her family went to Trinidad, her parent’s home country.
Brown wrote her words next to a photo of a child stopped at the U.S. border and said she was reminded of her own daughter, Baby C.
“This angel’s Baby C’s age,” wrote Foxy. “I’d literally f—ing die, torn apart from my daughter. The atrocity at the border is unspeakable; subjecting any child to an environment conducive to horror speaks volumes of this demonic-ass world we live in. My parents are Trinidadian immigrants (educated, sophisticated, hard-working teacher & welder). Yup, I rock that flag proudly.”
The 39-year-old also stated that she wasn’t against Trump in the beginning and respected the fact that he won the election, which is why the situation with her father hurts so much.
“I too, much like Kanye, were one of the few celebs who didn’t jump on the bandwagon and publicly denounce Trump,” she wrote. “Although I did not agree with every action —let me reiterate that, did not agree with his actions — I respected the art of the deal, politics aside.”
“Yet, our trip to Trinidad carnival ended in horror, as immigration stopped my father at the airport and refused him entry back to the U.S., where he’s lived for 50 something years, married in and all 3 of his kids (Inga, Gavin & Anton) were born,” continued. Foxy. “Trinidad let him through. U.S. won’t let him back in. It sent chills through my family. We fought like hell, quiet and yes, my father’s still stuck there.”
Since Trump has laid down his zero tolerance immigration policy, a number of celebrities have spoken out and encouraged people to speak up by contacting their States’ governor.
For the most part, people said they sympathized with Foxy and gave her words of encouragement, but a few people criticized her for not speaking out against Trump until now.
“Omg. This is so disturbing,” one person wrote. “My prayers go out to all people affected by this.”
“A year and a half ago she supported him and was proud to show it,” one of her detractors tweeted. “But now…….”
“Wasn’t you a Trump supporter? someone else asked. “So now you being affected, so now you have a change of heart?” Peep Foxy’s post below, what do you guys think?
